Azithromycin is a semi-synthetic 15-membered ring macrocyclic intraacetic antibiotic. This drug has not yet been included in the Veterinary Pharmacopoeia, but it has been widely used in veterinary clinical practices without permission. It is used to treat infections caused by Pasteurella pneumophila, Clostridium thermophila, Staphylococcus aureus, Anaerobacteria, Chlamydia and Rhodococcus equi. Since azithromycin has potential problems such as long residual time in tissues, high accumulation toxicity, easy development of bacterial resistance, and harm to food safety, it is necessary to carry out research on detection methods of azithromycin residues in livestock and poultry tissues.
