On November 6, China Quality News Network learned from the 41st food sampling notice of 2023 published by the Fujian Provincial Administration for Market Regulation that a store under Yonghui Supermarket was found to be selling substandard food.

The notice shows that lychees (purchased on August 9, 2023) sold by Fujian Yonghui Supermarket Co., Ltd.’s Sanming Wanda Plaza store, cyhalothrin and beta-cyhalothrin do not comply with national food safety standards.

In this regard, Fujian Yonghui Supermarket Co., Ltd. Sanming Wanda Plaza Store raised objections and applied for re-inspection; after re-inspection, the conclusion of the initial inspection was maintained.

It is reported that cyhalothrin and beta-cyhalothrin can effectively control a variety of pests on cotton, fruit trees, vegetables, soybeans and other crops, and can also prevent and control parasites on animals. They are broad-spectrum, efficient, and rapid. Eating foods containing excessive levels of cypermethrin and beta-cypermethrin may cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.

The "National Food Safety Standard Maximum Residue Limits of Pesticides in Food" (GB 2763-2021) stipulates that the maximum residue limit of cyhalothrin and beta-cyhalothrin in lychees is 0.1mg/kg. The test result of this indicator for the lychee products sampled this time was 0.42mg/kg.

At present, for the unqualified products found in random inspections, the local market supervision departments have carried out verification and disposal, urging manufacturers and operators to fulfill their legal obligations such as stopping sales, removing shelves, recalling and making announcements, investigating and punishing illegal activities in accordance with the law, and effectively preventing and controlling food safety risks.

Kwinbon's ELISA test kit and rapid test strip can effectively detect pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables, such as glyphosate. This provides great convenience to people's lives and also provides great guarantee for people's food safety.
